Vernetia Slaughter Parsley

Vernetia Slaughter Parsley, age 94 of Rhoda, peacefully departed this life at her residence, with her loved ones by her side on Sunday, December 31, 2023. The Edmonson County native was born on June 23, 1929 to the late Herbert P. and Delphia L. Wolfe Slaughter. She was married for seventy-years to her devoted husband and help mate, Junior Parsley, until they were parted by his death on January 27, 2019. 

Vernetia retired after working many years at Eaton Corporation.  She was a member of Beaver Dam United Baptist Church, and when her health permitted, she loved preparing Sunday meals for the men of God and her family.  She also loved traveling across the United States, and had visited the forty-eight contiguous states.

She leaves to honor her memory— her children, Roger Parsley (Jeannie) of Brownsville, Randy Parsley (Sherian) of Brownsville and Deanna Vincent (Billy Ray) of Rhoda; grandchildren, Brian Parsley (Heather), Michael Parsley (Kimberly), Tyra Ballance (Bill), Travis Parsley (Jessica), Lana Parsley, Bo Vincent (Ashley) and Emily Bullock (Daniel), along with fifteen great-grandchildren. 

Interment will be in Beaver Dam Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to: Beaver Dam Church Cemetery Fund.
