1932 - 2015

Thelma M. Blanton, age 82, of  Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Thursday, May 7, 2015,  in Bowling Green, KY.  The Edmonson County native was born on October 26, 1932 to the late Walter and Ida Ray Sowders and was the wife of  Morris Blanton who survives.

She was a  Medical Assistant  to Dr. Sydney Farmer, Dr. Marcus Wilkes and Dr. Omkar Bhatt at Wilkes Clinic and  was a member of the Ladies Auxillary to VFW Post # 6937 and  Beaver Dam United Baptist Church.

Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Vanecia Wilson (David) of Brownsville; one son, James Blanton (Jaime) of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, Laura Wilson of Bowling Green, Holly Cutright (Elliott) of Richmond, VA, Caitlin Wilson of Bowling Green and Lillian Mae Blanton of Knoxville, TN; one sister, Wanda Meredith (Regnal) of Brownsville and one brother, George Henry Sowders (Sarah) of Okeechobee, FL.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Irene Slaughter.

Interment will be in Fairview Church Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Patton and Bro. Ronald  Renfro officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or American Cancer Society.
