Roger Dale VanMeter
1951-2022
Roger Dale VanMeter, age 70, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, February 6, 2022 surrounded by his family. The Edmonson County native was born on July 27th, 1951 to the late Horace Greeley and Hallie Rhea Meredith VanMeter.
Roger was a U. S. Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was saved at Pleasant Union United Baptist Church and joined Brownsville General Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his passing. Roger was a former maintenance worker for the Edmonson County Road Department and previously worked as a heavy equipment operator for Jackie Lindsey. He loved working on his farm, hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, helping other people and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves to honor his memory— his wife, Terri Ashton VanMeter of Brownsville; his children, Jaime VanMeteren and Jessica VanMeter (Adam Stephens) of Alvaton; his grandchildren, Chandler Miller, Greyson VanMeter and Trevor Stephens all of Alvaton; two sisters, Brenda VanMeter of Brownsville and Barbara VanMeter Hogan (Mike) of Mammoth Cave; a brother, Hank VanMeter (Tresea) of Mammoth Cave; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Berreth VanMeter of Puyallup, WA and Cynthia Ashton Vincent (Bruce) of Mammoth Cave; two brothers-in-law; Neil Vincent and Wesley Gross both of Brownsville, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby, Jimmy, Bill & Roy VanMeter and Betty Vincent.
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy cards can be sent to 1079 W G Talley Road, Alvaton, KY, 42122.
