Roger Proffitt

Roger B. Proffitt, age 90 of Cave City, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012  in Horse Cave, KY.  He was born  August 5, 1922 , in Cave City, KY to the late Herchel Houston  and Martha Elizabeth Gerald Proffitt .  He was a  WWII Navy veteran, a farmer and the former mayor and postmaster of Cave City. He was also the former owner of the Wigwam Motel and an elder of the Cave City Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Proffitt of Cave City, KY; one daughter, Judith Ann Jackson (Michael) of Philadelphia, PA; three sons, Roger Maurice Proffitt (Ann) of Newport News,VA, Virgil Lee Proffitt (Helen) of Lexington, KY and James O. Proffitt (Dianna) of Cave City, KY; ten grandchildren, Michelle Jackson, James Lee Proffitt, Jason Proffitt, Megan Jackson, Jennifer Alford (Karson), Amanda Guerra (Cesar), Tori Dowell (Kent), Kati Proffitt, Ami Proffitt and  Lucas Roger Proffitt and three great-grandchildren, Laura Alford, Ella Alford and Carter Dowell.

Burial will be in the Cave City Cemetery with military honors by the Barren County DAV.
