Rev. Curtis Wilson

d. February 23, 2010

Rev. Curtis Wilson

Bro. Curtis was born January 18, 1925 in the Nick Community of Edmonson County.  The Lord called him to his eternal home on February 21, 2010.

Bro. Curtis served in the Army as a Medical Technician from 1944 - 1946 during World War II.  Bro. Curtis retired from Houchens Warehouse.

Bro. Curtis joined Chalybeate United Baptist Church after being saved and was baptized August 15, 1948 and was a faithful member all the days of his life.

The Lord had a great work ahead for Bro. Curtis.  In 1966 he owned his calling to preach and was ordained to the full work of the Ministry October 17, 1971.

As age began to take a toll on his body and his preaching slowed down, the Lord permitted him to return to his mother Church to live out his last years after spending many years traveling to different churches.  He was a common and simple man that lived a very common lifestyle, but was a very wise man in the Lord.  He often stood and instructed the Church on taking a stand on things that would come and he always encouraged the young people of the Church.  His works will live on long after this day.

Bro. Curtis is survived by his wife Helen; his children, Clifford and wife Phyllis, Mary Thomas and husband Terry, Mark and wife Patricia, Timmy and wife Gale, Sharon Starnes and husband Don, Tricia Crawford and husband Ronnie.  Bro. Curtis is also survived by his 11 grandchildren as well as 13 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.  Preceeding Bro. Curtis in death was his parents Bluford and Maggie Wells Wilson, his first wife, Mary Mills Wilson and a son Joe Wilson.  Brothers, Dale, Virgil, Ray and Dalton; Sisters, Kathleen Watt and Cortie Vincent.

Bro. Howard Decker and Bro. Steve Gipson officiating with burial in the Kinser Cemetery.
