Phyllis Ann Cummings

Phyllis Ann Cummings, age 77 of Brownsville, peacefully departed this life at her home on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The Edmonson County native was born on September 20, 1947 to the late Max and Wanda Vincent Hogan. 

Phyllis had a true servant’s heart! She dedicated her life to helping others, working as a certified nursing assistant for Lifeline Home Health Care and Tri County Community Action. She was the epitome of selflessness, and always put the needs of others above her own. She was a constant source of support, offering a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, and a listening ear to her friends and family. Phyllis found her best friend when she was saved at Poplar Spring United Baptist Church, and she remained a member there until her passing. 

She leaves to honor her memory— her companion, Jody Hazelwood of Campbellsburg; her children, Kenny Cummings (Vicki) of Shepherdsville and Kellie Cummings (Jason Carroll) of Morgantown; step-children, Brandon Hazelwood, Clifford Hazelwood and Jessica Hazelwood (Tristan Huff); grandchildren, Brandon Cummings, Stevi Phillips (Jason), Matthew Bratcher, Kole Woodcock (Rebekah), Savannah Bratcher, Meradeth Dawson (Carter) and Kendra Cummins (Branden); along with several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she cherished. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kendra Kay Cummings and sister, Patty Nell Duffer.

The interment will be in Poplar Spring Church Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to: Poplar Spring Cemetery Fund, c/o Anthony Madison.
