Opal Marie Yokley

Opal Marie Yokley, age 86 of Smiths Grove, departed this life on Friday, October 18, 2024 at The Hospice House in Bowling Green, KY. The Edmonson County native was born on February 28, 1938 to the late Velzie and Beulah Lee Sanders Decker. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-seven years, James Lewis Yokley. 

Opal found immense joy in being a homemaker and nurturing her family. She spent countless hours preparing delicious meals, and ensuring that her home was always filled with warmth and laughter. One of her greatest treasures was her role as "Granny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She embraced this title with all her heart, relishing the moments spent with them, from sharing stories to creating cherished memories that her family will always hold dear.

Opal had unwavering faith, and was a member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She spent many years teaching Sunday School, sharing her wisdom and love for God to the future generations. 

She leaves to honor her memory— her children, Jimmy Yokley (Sheila) of Smiths Grove and Tammy Hampton (Craig) of Cave City; grandchildren, Matthew Hampton (Kassandra), Makalla Morrison (Maurice), Sara Beth Yokley and Alissa Stice (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Jada Knight, Braylon Knight, Isla Kate Hampton, Memphis Aaron Stice, Octavia Hampton, Lennox Stice, Fia Lane Yokley and Ezekiel Hampton; her siblings, Willie Decker, Ronnie Decker (Julie), Gayle Graves and Kay Brooks (Cary), along with several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ova, Dennie Lee, Charles, James Eddie and Osa Decker, Theresa Faye Crabtree and Brenda Chase. 

 Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
