Noel Carroll, age 92 of Mammoth Cave, peacefully departed this life Saturday, January 18, 2025 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Born on November 12, 1932, in Edmonson County, to the late Claude and Janie Hester Carroll, Noel's life was a testament to his kindness, service and unwavering faith. He was married to his loving wife of almost sixty-nine years, Charlotte Brooks Carroll, who survives.
Noel was a kind man who exemplified a Christian life every day. He was deeply committed to his faith, serving as a devoted member and deacon at Nolin United Baptist Church. Ordained as a deacon in 1975, Noel took his responsibilities seriously—serving with grace as treasurer for over forty years while ensuring the church's upkeep was always attended to.
He had a fulfilling career as a truck driver for Meade Containers. He was known for his work ethic, reliability and even rewarded with The Million Mile Award for safely traveling over one million miles without an accident. Beyond his professional and spiritual contributions, Noel proudly served his country with honor during the Korean conflict in the United States Air Force for four years. His military service instilled in him values of dedication and resilience that he carried throughout his life.
Additionally, Noel found joy in nurturing his garden. He shared the fruits of his labor generously, often delivering fresh vegetables to neighbors, family, and friends. These vegetables were more than mere produce; they were symbols of his generosity and love for his community.
Besides his wife, Charlotte, he leaves to honor his memory— his beloved son, Gerald Carroll of Mammoth Cave; his siblings, Ricky Carroll (Debbie) of Mammoth Cave, Wilma Jean Harned of Elizabethtown, Agnes Brooks of Mammoth Cave and Catherine Avery of Cub Run, along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members that he cherished. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Connie Monnin and Lorine Carroll.
The interment will be in Nolin Church Cemetery with graveside military honors by the Nesbit Alexander Memorial Post #6937 VFW.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Nolin Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Kevin Jordan.
