Mary Louise Decker

Mary Louise Decker, age 79 of Chalybeate, departed this life on Friday, August 16, 2024 at her residence. The Omaha, Nebraska native was born on August 16, 1945 to the late Joseph Daniel and Dorothy Benson Siderewicz. She was married to her best friend and soulmate of fifty-five years, Dallas S. Decker, until his passing on August 28, 2022.

Mary was of the Catholic faith, and attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green. Through the years, Mary worked at the Plant Place, Dr. Bhatt’s office, and in the after school program at South Edmonson Elementary. She played bunco with a group of ladies, and in later years enjoyed the fellowship of her sewing group. Mary and Dallas’ home was always open to their friends and neighbors. For many years, while their boys were growing up, their back yard was the gathering place for all the neighborhood kids. 

She leaves to honor her memory— her sons, Mark Decker of Hendersonville, TN and John Decker (Tammy) of Bethpage, TN; grandchildren, Lauren, Evan, Carson, Amelia and Wyatt Decker, along with several nephews, nieces and cousins who will greatly miss her. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Michael and Gloria Siderewicz.

 Interment will be in John Stevenson Family Cemetery.
