Mabel Gipson Johnson, of Sweeden, passed away Wednesday May 5, 2010 in Cedar Springs. She was born June 26, 1929 in Edmonson County to the late Walter and Lillie Mae Elmore Gipson and married to the late Walter H. Johnson.
She was a retired cook for Park Mammoth Resort and a member of Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by four sons; John Johnson of Indiana, Ronnie Johnson of Central City, Steve Johnson of Sweeden and Troy Gipson of Bowling Green; three daughters, Joan Thurby of Cave City, Marsha Filback (Ronnie) of Sweeden and Julie Casey (Roger) of Clarkson; five brothers, Lester Gipson of Fairdale, Lawrence Gipson of Clarkson, Bill Gipson of Dillingham, AK, Albert Gipson of Sweeden and Robert Earl Gipson of La Grange; three sisters, Ella Abe of Anchorage, AK, Betty Basham and Joyce Weber of Sweeden; fourteen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two great grandchildren.
Services will be officiated by Bro. Jerry Patton and Bro. Junior Cook with burial in the Sweeden Cemetery.
