Lestel Childress, 82, of Park City, KY, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 in Bowling Green, KY. He was born April 8, 1927 in Hart County to the late Benjamin Franklin Childress and the late Ella Mae Thompson Childress. He was the husband of the late Ollie Marie Stith Childress. He was a member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen where he received the Folk Art Award for Basket Making. He was a retired Bus Driver for Edmonson County Schools and was a Farmer and a 5th Generation White Oak Basket Maker and was a member of Cedar Springs United Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Gloria Hennion (David) , Judy Cook (Junior) and Vickie Childress all of Park City, KY; six grandchildren, Kenny Hennion, J.R. Cook, Anthony Hennion, Jill Allen, Clayton Wilkerson and William Wilkerson ; ten great grandchildren, Kendra Hennion, Blake Hennion, Alexis Cook, Rachel Hennion, Meredith Hennion, Macy Allen, Sydney Hennion, Jenna Cook, Mackenzie Wilkerson adn Zachary Cook; one sister, Dolly Kessinger and a sister-in-law, Nita Childress.
Funeral service will be officiated by Bro. Junior Cook with burial in the Lambert Cemetery.
