Laymon Newton

Laymon Newton, age 71, of Bardstown, KY, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, KY. He was retired from maintenance from Old Fitzgerald Distillery. He was saved in 1967 and joined Union Light Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a member.

The Edmonson County native was born June 7, 1940 to the late Percy Newton and the late Avis Brooks Newton.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Newton; one daughter: Tammy Woehler (Keith), Bardstown, KY; two sons: Marty Newton (Anna), Mt. Washington, KY, Shawn Newton, Bardstown, KY; seven grandchildren: Nathan Newton, Jessica Molen (Matt), Daniel Newton, Bethany Mattingly, Grant Woehler, Emma Newton, Grayson Woehler; four sisters: Blanche Hogan, Mammoth Cave, KY, Clorene Bratcher (Ray), Mammoth Cave, KY, Madge Bratcher (Lawrene), Mammoth Cave, KY, Gayle Meredith (Bill), Cub Run, KY; one brother: Eddie Newton (Stella), Mammoth Cave, KY.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Selma Dunn, Virginia Poynter, Jessie Martin, Wanda Hogan; and one brother, David Newton.

Arrangements are being handled by Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel. Bro. Jerry Patton and Bro. Leland Childress officiating. Interment will be at Union Light Cemetery, Mammoth Cave, KY.
