Kathy Jean Self

1955 - 2020

Kathy Jean Self, age 65, of Cave City, departed this life on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Barren County native was born on June 2, 1955 to the late Clarence and Ruby Judd Poynter. Kathy shared  forty-four years of her life with her husband and best friend David Self, who survives.

Kathy was a member of Servant Valley United Baptist Church and attended Silent Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a former production technician at R.R. Donnelly.

Besides her husband she leaves to honor her memory-- one son, Derek Self (Emmi) of Knoxville, TN; one brother, Daryl Poynter (Connie) of Cave City; sisters-in-law, Judy Smith (Randel) and Debra Batliner; brother-in-law, Danny Self (Debbie); uncles and aunts, Paul Richard Poynter (JoAnn), Jerry Poynter (Maggie), Sam Judd (Carolyn), Charles Judd (Denise), Helen Poynter Byrd (T. Newby), Patricia Poynter Rutherford (Stanley); nephews and nieces, Joey Poynter (Shannon), Cole Poynter (Tiffany), Krista Poynter (Jason Kessinger), Lessa Croley (Brian), Jessica Craig, Emily Cockerill (Shawn), Robby Boston, and Kasey Batliner; seven great nephews and nieces; one great-great nephew and many cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Schuyler and Harriett Logsdon Poynter; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Maggie Bragg Judd; uncles, William, J.V., Warren and Curtis Poynter, Marshall, Bobby, Gene and Allen Judd,  as well as her aunt, Ruby Jean Poynter Chapman.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.
