Johnie W. Rigdon, 86 of Mammoth Cave, KY, departed this life on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on August 16, 1927 to the late Emmett and Lillie Hester Rigdon.
He was a retired truck driver with Kent's Feed Mill of Louisville, KY and a member of Ollie United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Cowles Rigdon; one daughter, Carolyn Carroll (Shelby) of Caneyville, KY; one stepson, Barry Cowles (Sharon) of Chalybeate, KY; one stepdaughter, Melanie Goins of Brownsville, KY; five brothers, Ted Rigdon (Betty) of Shepherdsville, KY, Overt Rigdon of Central City, KY, Arvel Rigdon (Ann) of Louisville, KY, Narvel Rigdon of Mammoth Cave, KY and Melvin Rigdon (Corene) of Mammoth Cave, KY; three sisters, Eithel Brooks of Shepherdsville, KY, Wilda Hodge of Shepherdsville, KY and Surrilda Hodge (Roy) of Mammoth Cave, KY; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys V. Rigdon; one daughter, Wanda Faye Dunn; one grandson, Trevor Chase Peak; two sisters, Ethel Brooks and Ruby Brooks and one brother, Herman Rigdon.
Interment will be in Union Light Cemetery with Bro. Bruce Vincent and Bro. Kenneth Meredith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Ollie United Baptist Church, % Paul Vincent, 8316 Nolin Dam Road, Mammoth Cave, KY 42259.
