John J. "Big John" Lindsey, age 79 of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Sunday, January 25, 2015. The Edmonson County native was born on March 21, 1935 to the late Garfield and Georgia Norris Lindsey and was married to the late Elizabeth A. Walker Lindsey.
Big John was a Korean War Army Veteran, a self-employed contractor and a member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to honor his memory- one son, John A. Lindsey (Suzanne) of Silver City, NM; four daughters, Kathy L. Coates (Donald) of Park City, Angela Kay Sowders (Gary) of Roundhill, Donna Sowders (Trenton) of Park City, and Leta Wilkerson (Dale) of Park City; three brothers, Bro. Ed Lindsey of Smiths Grove, Lowell Lindsey (Barbara) of Shepherdsville and Noel Lindsey (Mary) of Bardstown,; four sisters, Leta Whitman of Park City, Evon Davis of Rocky Hill, Marie Burns of Ft. Wayne, IN and Eva York (Jon) of Windyville, twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Louise Lindsey.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Malcolm Doyle officiating the services.
