Joe was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a Buick dealer in Hartford, Kentucky but was best known as the owner of Morris Motors, the Volkswagen dealership in Bowling Green, Kentucky for several years. He and his wife retired in 1973, then both earned their Bachelor's degrees from Western Kentucky University. They traveled extensively in their motor home during their retirement years having visited all 50 states, as well as Mexico and Canada. He also enjoyed traveling in Europe-in fact, he celebrated his 80th birthday while touring France.
Joe had a special gift for encouraging people and bringing out the best in them. He was a father figure to two young men whom he called his "boys", Jerry McKinney and Jimmie Duvall. Both were new to the auto business when he met them and he taught them by example. He had a kind manner about him when dealing with his staff and his customers. Joe easily made friends and was loved by many people both here and in Florida as well. He was always so kind and polite to everyone.
Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nadine Boyd Morris. He is further survived by five nieces: Dr. Paula Wheeler (Mark) of Owensboro, KY, Charla Malaney (Frank) of New Brunswick, GA, Dorothy Root of Eddyville, KY, Naomi Bilbro of Apollo Beach, FL and Annette Carter (Ralph) of Portland, TN plus a host of friends who will miss his warm smile and pleasant demeanor.
