Joan Wood

Joan Dawes Wood, age 80, of the Pig community, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at her residence.  She was born May 17,1930 in Edmonson County to the late Bert Thomas Dawes and the late Maude Cook Dawes. She was the wife of the late Harry Cheston Wood. She was a homemaker and a time analyst for Brownsville Manufacturing, a member of Silent Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Rocky Hill Eastern Star and the last charter member of Capital Hill Homemakers.

She is survived by two sons, Clark Wood (Sharon) of Cedar Springs, KY and Barry Lee Wood of Brownsville, KY; two half brothers, Danny Dawes of Texas and Arthur Dawes of Florida; seven grandchildren, Kim Easley (Chad), Brandon Seth Wood, Leigh Anne Cowles (DeWayne) , jason Wood, Brandon Wood (April), Shaina Hayes and Niki Payne and  eight great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Butch Wood and a half sister, Kathy Dawes.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hawkins Cemetery, c/o James Jones 500 Mammoth Cave Rd., Brownsville, KY 42210.  Services will officiated by Bro. Essie Hayes with burial will be in the Hawkins Cemetery.
