James William Smith, age 85, of Park City, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his residence. The Barren County native was born on May 15, 1932 to the late Robert Leonard Smith and the late Ruby Lee Tapscott Smith. He was married to the late Frances Jeanette Owens Smith.

He was a farmer and bus driver for Barren County schools and a member of Highland United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Timmy J. Smith (Brenda) of Glasgow and David Smith (Kathy) of Park City; two daughters, Loretta K. Hatcher (Marlon) and Ruby J. Lile (Roger) of Cave City; three stepbrothers, Jimmy Owens (JoAnn) of Edinburg, IN, Bobby Joe Owens (Judy) of Canmer and William Edgar Owens of Columbus, IN; three stepsisters, Betty Lou Sturgeon of Cave City, Sarah Puckett (Paul) of Floyds Knob, IN and Patsy Basham (Carl) of Crestwood; two brothers, Charles Smith (Dorothy) of Payneville and Leonard Smith (Irene) of Park City; four sisters, Leattia Huff of Park City, Joyce Hester of Park City, Martha Poynter of Cave City and Derenda Jones (Paul) of Park City; twenty five grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, thirty seven great-great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and one step great-great grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Douglas Smith; one brother, Mikel Lee Smith and one sister, Ada Elizabeth Smith

Internment will be in Cave City Cemetery, Cave City, KY.
