Grady Alvin Hinson, 82, departed this life on Sunday, July 28, 2013 in Bowling Green, KY. He was born on April 20, 1931 to James and Leona Blackman Hinson in Lancaster, South Carolina. He was married to his devoted wife, Deloris Faye Hillard on November 23, 1957, who survives him.
He unselfishly sacrificed with the U.S. Army and retired after 20 years of service. He spent three tours of duty in Vietnam; three tours of duty in Germany and one tour in Korea. He also retired for the Great Onyx Job Corps after 14 years. He was a member of Washington Meredith Masonic Lodge #355 F&AM and Cove Hollow United Baptist Church.
He is survived by Delores "Faye" Hinson of Mammoth Cave; two daughters, Pamela Peterman of Ft. Walton, Florida and Jeannie Slaughter (Charlie) of Clarksville, IN; one son, Grady Byrd (Esther) of Lexington, SC; one sister, Zelphor Altman of Lancaster, SC; six grandchildren, Jon Singleton, Lara Bell, David Danner, Chuck Slaughter, Abby Ogden and Josh Slaughter; four great grandchildren, Chelsea Miller, Savannah Miller, Lily Singleton and Liam Danner and one great-great grandchild, Cherish Brown.
Burial will be in the Cove Hollow Church Cemetery in Mammoth Cave, with Bro. Shane Wilson officiating the services. Honorable graveside military services will be conducted by Nisbet Alexander VFW.
