Dr. Jackson Wayne Ashley

Dr. Jackson Wayne Ashley, age 83 of Brownsville, departed this life on Thursday, February 5, 2015. The Edmonson County native was born on October 5, 1931 to the late Lorin D. and Inez Ashley. He was the devoted husband of 61 years to Geneva Lindsey Ashley, who survives.
Wayne is a retired Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership from Western Kentucky University. He was a Korean War Veteran and a faithful member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, where he was the Sunday School Superintendent for over 30 years. Wayne was a pillar to his natural and spiritual family and leaves footprints for each to follow.
In addition to his wife, Geneva, he leaves to honor his memory—one son, Timmy Ashley (Crystal) of Brownsville, KY; two daughters, Denise Johnson (Mike) and Lynette Saling (Rob) both of Mammoth Cave, KY; one sister, Emily Stahl (Norman) of Leitchfield, KY; six grandchildren, Amy White, Brandon Ashley (Ginnie), Adam Johnson (Mindy), Brittany Sowders (Derek), Lauren Parrigan (Caleb) and Lindsey Saling; two step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of family and friends.

Burial will be in Pleasant Union Church Cemetery with Bro. Richard Minton and Bro. Jerry Patton officiating.
