Dorthene "Dot" Vincent

December 21, 1942 — January 2, 2025

Mrs. Dorthene Janice Vincent, age 82, of Brownsville, Kentucky, left her earthly home to be with her Savior on January 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorthene, affectionately known as “Dot”, "Shug", “Mom” or “Grandma”, was born on December 21, 1942, to the late Homer and Gertie Johnson in Brownsville, Kentucky. Dot cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandma and was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church. When she wasn't serving and loving her family, you could find her at Farm Bureau Women's meetings, with her friends who were more like family, running lunches to the farm fields, bragging about her children and grandchildren, or on the phone with her sisters.

A graduate of the 1961 class at Edmonson County High School, Dot went on to work for Brown & Williamson tobacco company in Louisville, Kentucky. She returned to Brownsville in 1974 where she switched careers to being a successful stay at home mom and farmer/farmwife.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Rhonda and Melinda Vincent (whom she longed to hold again); two sisters, Norma Carder and Ruth Bullock; and four brothers, Ben Johnson, Truman “T.K.” Johnson, Shirley Johnson, and Morris “Jim” Johnson.

She leaves behind her deeply devoted and adoring husband of 59 years, Charles Royce Vincent, as well as three children, Greg Vincent (Carolyn) of Brownsville, KY, Stacy Vincent (Tara) of Versailles, KY, and Hillary Vincent Varvel (Todd) of Norfolk, VA; four beloved granddaughters, Catherine Vincent, Sarah Vincent, Kyndall Vincent, and Lynnlee Vincent; and two sisters, Patricia VanMeter and Marjory Durbin.

The interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given in Dot’s name to either Hospice of Southern Kentucky, the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, or the Oak Hill Cemetery in Brownsville, Kentucky.
