Doris Avaline Steele, age 82 of Cave City, KY, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Signature Healthcare of Hart County. She was born on October 28, 1933 in Ashville, NC to the late Dennis Lee Smith and the late Evelyn Lowe Smith. She was married to Jerry Lee Steele who survives.

She was a retired Greeter from Kmart and Wal-Mart, and attended Caveland Baptist Church.

Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Patricia Morrison (James) of Cave City, KY, Sonya Perkins (Troy) of Charleston, SC; one son, Mark Mease (Linda) of Cave City, KY; three sisters, Marie Ray (Braskey) of Weaverville, NC, Barbara Redmond of Arden, NC, Joyce Whitwell of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, Shonta Chapman, Yoshiko Mease, Jessica Mease, Jessie Merideth, and Adam Merideth; two great grandchildren, Saniyah Chapman, and Saliyah Chapman.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Hyatt, one son, Roger Mease, three brothers, Richard Smith, Bill Smith, and Clarence Smith, and two sisters, Judy Smith, Jeanett Brockmeir.

The family has chosen cremation.
