Donald Ray Meredith

May 30, 1937 — October 21, 2024

Donald Ray Meredith, a cherished member of the Bee Spring community, departed this life peacefully in his sleep on October 21, 2024, at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on May 30, 1937 to the late Jim Brite and Cora Vincent Meredith. He was married to his beloved wife, Martha Bullock Meredith, until they were parted by her passing on January 23, 2014.

Donald Ray dedicated much of his life to serving others, both as a bus driver for Edmonson County Schools and also as a law enforcement officer. He worked with Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office, and later as the Chief of Police with the City of Brownsville. His commitment to public service and community welfare left an enduring impact on many lives.

He was a dedicated member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church, until his health began to fail. He was known for his kind, welcoming spirit and beautiful tenor voice. He was always seen with a warm smile that made him a friend to all who crossed his path.

He leaves to honor his memory— his son, Teddy Meredith; treasured grandchildren, Donnie Meredith, Chris Meredith (Janelle), Dustin Meredith (Kegan), Austin Meredith, and Jamie Flora; great-grandchildren, Justin Boyd (Angela), Jeffery Flora (Kaleigh), Jasmine Flora, Savannah Topolski, Matthew Meredith, Chloe Watson, Lylah Summers, Zack Wix, Samantha Wix Kent, and Garrette Keen; seven great-great grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy of love and kindness. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sons, James Loyd Meredith and Danny Ray Meredith; great grandson, Franklin Danny Boyd and his siblings, Jimmy Meredith, Eddie Meredith, Avil Vincent, Ivil Saltsman, Lillian Lowe, and Oneta Ashley.

Interment will be in Bee Spring Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to: Bee Spring Church Cemetery Fund.
