He was a Realtor of Coldwell Banker Legacy Real Estate Group and a former employee  of Kenway Contracting.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Van Meter, of Brownsville, KY; one son, Shawn Van Meter (Becky) of Oakland, KY; one daughter, Katina New (Chester) of Bronston, KY; five grandchildren, Stacy Van Meter, Amy New, Austin New, Trinity Van Meter and Jackson Van Meter; best friend, Nathan Grinstead (Margie) and  faithful dog, Buster.

Cremation was chosen per Dennis' wishes with no service.
