C.R. "Bob" Kleier, a cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. He was born on March 25, 1935, in Lexington, KY to the late Martha and Clarence Robert Kleier, Sr. He was married to his best friend and devoted wife of almost sixty years, Charlotte Webb Kleier, who survives.
Bob lived a life rich in service and dedication to his country, family, community and faith. He had a distinguished educational background, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky and a Masters Degree from Mississippi College. He served with great pride in the U.S. Army, dedicating himself to the values of honor and sacrifice. Bob was a warm and charismatic individual, known for his ability to connect with others. He had a fulfilling career as a self-employed insurance agent, where he thrived in helping clients navigate their insurance needs. His leadership extended beyond his profession; he was a past president of the Edmonson County Chamber of Commerce and the Bowling Green Rotary Club. He also previously served on the Edmonson County Library Board and was a local chairperson for the E.C. Republican Committee. In his personal life, Bob was as an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Bob’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was saved as an adult at Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, and remained a member there until the Lord called him home. Bob would often reflect on his experience of salvation referring to his favorite hymn, “If That Isn’t Love”.
Besides his wife, Charlotte, he leaves to honor his memory— his sister-in-law, Martha Lynn Keller (Don) of Easley, SC; his nephew and nieces that he loved as his own, Paul Keller (Jennifer), Natalie Keller (Michael Hunt), Susan Kleier Jennings and Paige Thomas; great nephews and nieces, John Paul Keller, Elisabeth Keller, Emily Cathcart (Joel), Ariana Keller and Xavier Keller Grant, along with extended family members and friends that he cherished. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie and Charles Kleier, his in-laws, Cecil and Chloie Webb and his beloved nephew, GySgt. Robert Keith Keller.
The interment will be in Pleasant Union Church Cemetery with military honors by the Nesbit Alexander Memorial Post #6937 VFW.
Memorial contributions can be made to either Charter Senior Living or Hospice of Southern Kentucky, where both offered exceptional care to Bob.
