Celia Sowders

Celia Elizabeth Slaughter Sowders, age 94 of Smiths Grove, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 in Glasgow. She was born October 6, 1913 in Edmonson County to the late William Russell and Nancy Jane Meredith Slaughter and married to the late Luther Sowders. She was housewife and devoted mother who loved the Lord and a member of Beaver Dam United Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Travis "Bud" Sowders (Jo Ann) of Bowling Green; five daughters, Mary Evelyn Hennion of Bowling Green, Clorine Furlong (Howard) of Hays, Georgia Brooks of Glasgow, Beverly Jones of Glasgow and Jessie Elmore (Leslie) of Bowling Green; two brothers, Paul Slaughter of Rhoda and Rayburn Slaughter of Louisville; nine grandchildren; Seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Roy Douglas Brooks, Jr. Services will be officiated by Bro. Jerry Patton with burial in the Bell Key Cemetery.
