"CD" Church

"CD" Church, age 92, of Cave City, KY departed this life on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at The Medical Center at Caverna. The Luxora, Arkansas native was born on February 23, 1931, to the late Frank Roy and Lilly Dhority Church. He was married to his beloved wife of 69 years, Helen Miller Church, who survives.

"CD" served our country in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years, and served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement from the military, he started working at Mammoth Cave National Park. While he was there, he worked in maintenance, ran the Mammoth Cave Ferry and later retired. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and of the Christian faith.

"CD" enjoyed being around people. He could be found at many community gatherings and always had a good story to tell. His quick wit was always enjoyed by those he shared his stories and laughter with.

Besides his wife, Helen, he leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Steven Church, Randall Kevin Church (Mary Ann), Perry Church (Maria) and Russell Church; son-in-law, Tony O’Malley; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy O’Malley.
